A pedometer is a device for counting the number of steps you take in a day, in order to keep active and monitor your fitness. (A pedometer senses body motion.) You can wear your pedometer all day and record your total number of daily steps. Or you can wear a pedometer just when you go for a walk. Attach the pedometer to your belt or waistband near the front of your hipbone. It needs to be comfortable to wear all day and should be fastened securely in place. A safety cord is typically worn to ensure the pedometer doesn't fall. The pedometer-display should be easy to read and needs to rest so that the buttons are not inadvertently pressed which might cause the step-count to be reset to zero.
