At present the main weight loss drugs approved by the FDA for long-term treatment of obesity are Meridia® or Redux® (active ingredient Sibutramine), and Xenical® (active ingredient Orlistat). Other pharmaceuticals for short-term use include: Adipex®, Bontril®, Didrex®, Ionamin®, Phentermine® and Tenuate®.
